ARTICLES OF FAITH AND RULES TO BE OBSERVED BY THE CHURCH WORSHIPPING AT BETHESDA BAPTIST CHAPEL, NARBERTH.

PURPOSE: The purpose of a New Testament local church, in love and obedience to it's Saviour and Head the Lord Jesus Christ, is to willingly and obediently worship the triune God in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

  • Continuing steadfastly in apostolic doctrine, fellowship and observing the ordinances and prayers (Acts 2:42; 9:31).
  • Assembling themselves together in one place (Hebrews 10:24; 1 Corinthians 14:23) so that:
    • The saints might be perfected for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12) and that through the ministry,
    • Sinners might be saved (2 Timothy 2:10; Matthew 28:18-20; John 17:2)
  • Properly manifesting spiritual graces (Romans 12:9-21; 1 Corinthians 13) and developing and exercising spiritual gifts as sovereignty bestowed by the Triune God (1 Corinthians 12:18; Ephesians 4:7) so that they might:
    • Be built up in the unity of the faith (Ephesians 4:13) unto godliness (Titus 1:1), to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and, thereby, that they
    • glorify their Father who is in heaven by their good works (Matthew 5:16; Ephesians 2:10; 1 Thessalonians 2:12, 4:12; Titus 3:8; James 2:20; 1 Peter 2:12, 4:10).

DOCTRINAL BASIS: The Church meeting at Bethesda Baptist Chapel is committed to that expression of Biblical truth common to those known as Particular Baptists as defined by the Trust Deeds. And which is expressed in the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith.
